ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Perform environmental (water, room air, compressed air, nitrogen and surfaces) test, Bacterial Endotoxin test, bioburden and product and garments particulate matter tests, microbiological/ mold identification, microbial ingress studies.
- Performs microbiological testing for product.
- Control materials and media inventory. Carry-out weekly inventory of reagents, wastes, media and sampling equipment.
- Dispose toxic agents in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
- Support the training activities for new Laboratory Technicians in the assigned area.
- Complete all testing, including special projects and protocol testing, in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Ensure compliance with company SOP's, specifications and company policies, FDA, GLP and GMP regulations.
- Support auditing microbiological test procedures and SOP's in the laboratory and submit changes, as required.
- Performs growth tests to culture media.
- Perform preventive maintenance to laboratory equipment as required.
- Provides supports on laboratory and production product sterilization autoclave qualification studies,
- Prepared media requested to perform the different testing at the Micro Lab.
- Fill out, analyze and understand all necessary documentation to comply with all specifications and company standards.
- Keep the working area clean and organized.
- Sterilize materials used at the Micro Lab.
QUALIFICATIONS
- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Science (preferably in Microbiology, Biology, Medical Technology or Biotechnology); one to two years of previous experience and/or training is highly preferable.
- LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to write and read effectively English and Spanish languages. Ability to communicate, read, write and understand English/Spanish languages.
- MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and statistical.
- REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, EXAMS
cGMPs Training, Safety Trainings, certificates, licenses, exams and registrations that the immediate supervisor refers .
- COMPANY REGULATORY COMPLIANCE
Observes and promotes company security, industrial hygiene, cGMP's, procedures and other security measures already established by the company; should inform any violation. Able to follow all GMP requirements while conducting the assigned duties and completing official documents.
- PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 -50 pounds (with the appropriate safety equipment that company provides). Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- SAFETY EQUIPMENT and/or EQUIPMENT
The employee is required to use the appropriate Safety Equipment that Baxter requires to comply with all Safety and Security rules (in Regulated Areas), such as: safety glasses, safety shoes, uniform, special safety suit, gloves, etc. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use the appropriate equipment such as: Spectrophotometer, Centrifuge, Autoclave, Particle Counter, Microscope, general and specialized laboratory equipment, telephone, office supply, copy machine.
