The Arc of Clarke County Direct Support Professional in Jackson, Alabama

Description: Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Responsible for creating and implementing person directed plans and documenting such through monthly progress reports. The person directed plans are designed to provide opportunities for individuals to fulfill their dreams by achieving goals that they set. They are also responsible for ensuring maintenance of quality service provision by monitoring the safety, rights, health and wellness of the individuals they support. Must have a valid Alabama driver's license.

No convictions of abuse, neglect, or exploitation involving care to others. High school diploma or GED; prefer some post secondary education. Provide proof of vehicle liability coverage (minimum). Successfully complete and maintain Medication Administration Certification (MAC) (Provided by the Agency nurse). CPR Certification. Evidence of negative TB Skin Test to be provided upon employment and annually thereafter. Complete and Maintain ALL Agency and Alabama Department Intellectual Disabilities training requirements. Insurable under Agency vehicle insurance policy, valid Alabama driver's license, and evidence of good driving record. Able to lift 50 lbs. and work in inclement weather. Ability to assume responsibility and exhibit initiative in the completion of tasks assigned. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form. Ability to work under stressful conditions in a multitask environment.
