SUMMARY

The Whole Child Coach provides responsive and collaborative leadership to local schools and districts implementing MTSS systems within the Gratiot Isabella RESD. This position will be focused on infrastructure development within local education systems necessary for the effective implementation of comprehensive MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) that addresses behavioral, mental health, and social-emotional learning connections between health and achievement and the importance of evidence-based school policies and practices to align the common goals to put into action a whole child approach to education. The Whole Child Coach will collaborate with GIRESD MTSS staff to design, coordinate, and deliver professional development opportunities for teachers, administrators, and interventionists in the topics of MTSS, PBIS, and classroom management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Coaching and Support (80%):

  • Work collaboratively with district administrators, school-based leadership teams, and teachers to facilitate the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) at the district and school levels.
  • Coach school sites on analyzing student needs and identifying whole-child research-based interventions for behavior, mental health, and social-emotional learning (SEL) needs.
  • Establish data collection and analysis procedures through a data system to inform decision-making around student needs and district/school resource allocation.
  • Using data analysis, identify groups of students to receive targeted and intensive support.
  • Model and coach school personnel in the use of social skills instruction and MTSS strategies.
  • Monitor the fidelity of implementation of MTSS at school sites, including the identification of students, delivery of Tier 2 and 3 interventions, and progress monitoring.
  • Assist teachers and instructional staff in addressing student learning using the MTSS framework; provide guidance on strategies, tools, and techniques to effectively teach all students.
  • Share resources such as research-based instructional strategies and interventions to improve student outcomes and school climate.

MTSS Regional Collaboration and Coordination (20%):

  • Collaborate with the GIRESD Behavioral Health Coordinator to develop measures of implementation fidelity for integration initiatives.
  • Facilitate high-quality professional development for teachers on intervention delivery, instructional design, and other MTSS processes.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

A demonstrated understanding of:

  • Knowledge of the MTSS model, how to implement interventions, and monitor student progress.
  • Demonstrated skills working with students in an intervention setting.
  • Behavior data collection systems, such as Illuminate.
  • Ability to analyze data and use data to drive decision-making.
  • Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and manage programs and projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Understanding and demonstration of "client-centered" support and services.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
