Behavioral Health Coordinator (grant funded position)

Work Schedule: GIRESD Full Time Professional Staff School Year Contract

SUMMARY:

This grant-funded position will oversee all school-based mental health-related grant (31n, 31p, 31aa, 31o, HRA, etc) funded activities. The educator in this position will assist in the coordination and oversight of School Based Mental Health and Mental Health Practitioners. The person must be collaborative and centered on student success. In addition to the coordination of services, this individual will be responsible for collaboration with other local, regional and state partners in order to promote robust mental health support for students.

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES-( Other duties as assigned)

Grant oversight:

  • Serve as the liaison between the MDE/MDHHS, Isabella Citizens for Health (ICH), Gratiot Integrated Health Network (GIHN) and the local school districts for the current 12 31n funded mental health therapists.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with MDE for the 31n grant and manage 31n grant compliance activities to include Medicaid (C4S) billing, data management (Ed Plan/bhworks), and quality assurance for program implementation.
  • Attend MDE/MDHHS monthly 31n Coordinator Meetings.
  • Work with districts to identify and document their 20% in kind match for the 31n services they receive.
  • Collect data from ICH and GIHN for the year end report (due Aug 2023).
  • MidMichigan Health Department HRA Grant implementation of an SEL student wellness monitoring tool.
  • Coordinate with 31p TRAILS to continue to implement TRAILS to Wellness coaching.
  • Coordinate with TRAILS to Wellness to continue to implement TRAILS Tiers 1-3 in local districts. Expand TRAILS to additional buildings as funding allows.
  • Fulfill additional grants duties as new grants or reporting requirements are initiated.

MTSS Behavior Coordination:

  • Establish and facilitate a Behavioral Health Network with participants from the local school districts.
  • Coordinate the work of Jim Harris with the participating building teams of MTSS.
  • Serve as one of the MTSS RESD behavior coaches supporting local district teams.
  • Continue to expand the work of MTSS by adding new cohorts each year.
  • Plan and facilitate a Counselor Network with participants from the local schools.
  • Collaborate with grant funded Whole-Child Coach(es).

EdPlan/Medicaid Coordination:

  • Train new 31n therapists on EdPlan.
  • Add new 31n therapists to the medicaid staff pool list, ensure that therapists complete their C4S RMTS (random moment time studies), oversee collection of permission to treat/permission to bill medicaid.
  • Prepare documentation for, and participate in, the annual 31n onsite review each spring.
  • Annually update medicaid permission forms and ensure that districts with 31n therapists are disseminating and collecting completed forms each fall.

Other duties as assigned by the Associate Superintendent of Instruction.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No direct reports at this time

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • MUST be an LMSW or Professional Licensed Counselor
  • Master's Degree in an education-related field or Master's of Public Health
  • K-12 experience preferred
  • Experience with program administration and SEL preferred
