The Opportunity


Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, provide high-level, confidential service in support of a broad variety of financial aid and admissions activities at Cornell Law School. This includes prospective student financial aid and admissions services for prospective and continuing students, Public Interest Low Income Protection Plan (PILIPP), and general report generation. Other duties include:

  • Providing local and remote recruitment/event support for specific events such as Admitted Student Days, Orientation, the Academic Orientation Program (AOP), and the department's outreach programs.
  • Facilitating small account scholarship awarding, including identifying named scholarships and assigning them to awardees based upon alignment with initial financial aid offer.
  • Interacting broadly with prospective students and parents, pre-law advisors/career centers, Law School faculty, staff, and students.
  • Interfacing with various Law School and University offices including the Bursar, Central Financial Aid, Registrar, Office of Global Learning, and Dining & Housing.
  • Demonstrating an understanding of and operating in compliance with federal, state and university data privacy and security regulations, policies, and best practices relating to the access and use of student data.

What We Need

  • Associate's Degree and 2-4 years of experience or equivalent.
  • Ability to work successfully under pressure in a fast-paced, team-oriented setting, handling multiple tasks with differing deadlines, and to prioritize work on projects happening simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, along with organizational, planning, time management, interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to make sound judgments and respond to numerous admissions inquires, skillfully dispensing accurate and detailed information in a professional manner to faculty, staff, students, and prospective applicants.
  • Strong service orientation and attention to detail.
  • Experience in supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.
  • Must be able to handle high-volumes of work during peak periods. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, database management and electronic communications.

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Prior knowledge of admissions and financial aid policies and procedures.
  • Experience with WordPress, PeopleSoft, CRM, and graphic design software.
