Inns of Aurora Fine Dining Server in Ithaca, New York

$10.00 hourly plus gratuities

Position Purpose:

The server is responsible for receiving and expediting food and beverage orders and assisting guests in order to create a satisfying and luxurious dining experience.

Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks:

  • Set up dining area and server stations before each shift

  • Stay informed of daily menu updates, seasonal products and local food offerings

  • Set tables prior to guest arrival with appropriate utensils, condiments etc.

  • Restock all stations

  • Greet and introduce oneself to guests in designated sections in timely manner

  • Describe and recommend wines and specialty beverages to guests

  • Check identification for guests to verify age requirements for purchase of alcoholic drinks

  • Communicate with guests in a poised and professional manner

  • Receive food and beverage orders at assigned tables, offering assistance and section recommendations, as necessary

  • Check in with guests consistently to ensure satisfaction

  • Serve water, coffee and tea to guests

  • Deliver bread and water to tables

  • Prepare cocktails as ordered and deliver to guests or bartender

  • Run food from kitchen, as needed

  • Complete all side work and daily cleaning tasks in checklist binder

  • Adhere to cleaning duties required at end of shift

  • Remove dishes and glasses from tables and take to kitchen during meals

  • Present checks on each table, collect payments and cash guest out correctly

  • Complete and produce accurate check-outs at the end of each shift

  • Allocate tips to all support staff per AIDR expectations

  • Report all issues in the dining area to restaurant management team

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the service area

  • Attend all mandatory training and meetings

  • Other duties, as assigned

  • Maintain positive and helpful attitude with all guests and Inns of Aurora employees

  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to proper dress policy, as defined in the IOA handbook

  • Follow guidelines and expectations as stated in the employee handbook

  • Other duties, as assigned

Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Ability to maintain neat, professional and clean appearance and practices

  • Ability to work while standing for long periods of time

  • Ability to work in a team environment with other servers, host, bartenders, chefs and other Inns of Aurora employees

  • Ability to adhere to proper food regulation standards and health and safety standards

  • High level of professionalism and passion for the industry

  • Ability to maintain calm and collected demeanor under and fast-paced working conditions

  • Ability to work efficiently on a team with other servers, chefs, and all other Inns of Aurora team members

  • Flexibility with scheduling

PREFERENCES

  • Previous serving or fine-dining serving experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of workplace safety procedures

  • Local wine, food and fine-dining knowledge
