Nuveen Investments Sr Lead UI Developer, Product Technology in Iselin, New Jersey

Nuveen is seeking a talented Senior Lead Front-end Developer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a blend of unique technical expertise, limitless curiosity, and possess an analytical mindset. This role will be working independently as well as with a team in the design and development of mission-critical websites, applications, and layers of infrastructure.

This role will be responsible for designing and building front end applications leveraging state-management frameworks on the AWS platform for Nuveen’s strategic digital platform. This includes integration of third-party systems, connecting frontend components to backend processes, and configuration of information technology software. This role guides front-end engineers in best practices, ensures compliance with the SDLC, leads architecture review sessions, conducts code reviews, and ensures quality delivery of complex software components.

This position owns various functions, processes, and systems related to the Separately Managed Account (SMA) platform. The role has significant leadership responsibilities working across Product Technology and Nuveen Technology making critical decisions on application/component design, system integration, and delivery.

We are seeking an individual who has expertise with React, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and developing micro front-end applications to succeed quickly in this role. This is a hands-on role (requires coding) and is a critical role within Nuveen Technology that will have an immediate impact on our business success.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Designs, codes, develops, and unit tests applications in accordance with established standards.

  • Analyzes issues and resolves bottlenecks.

  • Designs robust APIs to support projects.

  • Monitors development work to ensure resulting software meets established requirements and business value.

  • Partners with the Product Analysts, UI and backend development teams to groom the backlog, plan sprints, design solutions, and deliver according to plans.

  • Hands-on ownership of software development and delivery including post deployment activities.

  • Manage and optimize scalable distributed systems in the cloud.

  • Develop automated test scripts to ensure business needs are met and allow for regression testing.

  • Communicate routinely with stakeholders, project managers, quality assurance teams, and other developers regarding progress on long-term technology roadmap.

  • Produce quality code, raising the bar for team performance and speed.

  • Recommend best-fit technologies and lead buy v. build decisions to deliver best-in-class applications for the business.

  • Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to team members.

  • Provide team with mentorship, ensuring best practices and alignment to the SDLC.

Required:

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience developing in a micro front-end architecture.

  • 5+ years of experience with Authentication and Authorization technologies – JSON Web Tokens, OAuth to protect API’s and sensitive data.

  • 4+ years of experience with core AWS web-enabling technologies.

  • 4+ years of experience programming with React, CSS3, HTML5, TypeScript, Amazon Web Services (AWS serverless architecture), Git, Docker and JIRA.

  • Hands-on experience with performance and security tools.

Preferred:

  • Prior experience mentoring team members.

  • Experience working within the financial services industry, preferably asset management.

Anticipated Posting End Date:

Base Pay Range: $110,600/yr. - $178,000/yr.

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
