Job Title: Staff Manufacturing Engineer
Job Description
The Staff Manufacturing Engineer will provide engineering support and project management skills for the design, development, installation, startup, validation, and maintenance of products, processes, and equipment, with a specific focus on vision systems technology.
Responsibilities
Develop, evaluate, and improve industrial manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities.
Coordinate with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for the purchase of equipment materials or parts, ensuring evaluation according to specifications and quality standards.
Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Collaborate with management engineering staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, or other considerations to facilitate production processes.
Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness.
Enter information into computer databases for effective record keeping.
Design and develop vision systems tailored to specific manufacturing needs, including hardware and software integration.
Conduct tests to validate the performance of vision systems, ensuring they meet specifications and are reliable in detecting defects or performing inspections.
Diagnose and resolve issues related to vision systems, ensuring they function correctly and efficiently.
Assist with vision systems on a daily basis, including inspecting bags for defects using machines, collecting and reviewing images weekly for improvements, and opening change controls to present to Quality.
Participate in projects aimed at sustaining and improving new equipment, conducting time studies, collecting downtime data, and updating documentation (IQ OQ).
Essential Skills
3 years of experience working with vision systems.
Manufacturing engineering knowledge.
Process improvement skills.
Experience with automated machinery.
Ability to ensure vision systems on machines are working properly.
Capability to lead process improvement events on machinery.
Familiarity with automated equipment, Allen-Bradley, SolidWorks, lean manufacturing, and process engineering.
Root cause analysis experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience conducting investigations to determine root cause using appropriate tools.
Work Environment
This role is onsite from Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm, in a very fast-paced environment working on a high-profile production line. The team oversees the maintenance of machinery in three different business units: E3, Excel, and Plastics. The team includes three other engineers focused on quality.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $55.28 - $57.69/hr.
