BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Metalworking Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing sales growth and profitability for metalworking sales and for developing and managing the Metalworking Specialists and Senior Metalworking Specialists within an assigned region.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maximizes sales growth and profitability for metalworking sales within assigned region.

  • Implements the metalworking customer segment plan within assigned region with support from the field.

  • Develops and manages the Senior MW Specialists and Metalworking Specialists within assigned region.

  • Supports Regional Sales Managers, District Sales Managers and Business Development Managers in the development and implementation MW growth strategies within assigned region.

  • Drives the team to deliver strong Application Optimization savings within targeted metalworking accounts in the region.

  • Drives a strong culture of process improvements for MSC’s customers utilizing technology from our suppliers, Applications Optimization and MillMax technology

  • Develops strong regional supplier relationships to support local MW growth initiatives.

  • Coordinates regional delivery of continued metalworking training to the metalworking sales team as needed.

  • Supports the continued execution of solutions-based selling to drive metalworking sales growth. (Vending, VMI, CMI, etc.)

  • Works cross-functionally with various MSC teams to drive and support metalworking sales goals and initiatives.

  • Leads and drives metalworking initiatives being initiated by the company.

  • Identifies and prioritizes, with the assistance of various functional areas, opportunities for improvement.

  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of an MSC Regional Sales Manager, as defined by the MSC Code of Conduct, to include hiring, termination, review, and development of Associates.

  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.

  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

    EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent work experience is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years metalworking supplier or Industrial distribution experience in a technical related or sales related position is required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of outside sales management experience is required or minimum 2 years MSC sales management experience is required.

    SKILLS:

  • Understanding of metalworking customer segment.

  • Business analysis experience and the ability to identify and implement improvement opportunities are required.

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills required.

  • Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 50-75% of the time may be required.

Compensation starting at $96740 - $152020 depending on experience.

The salary range represented is based on similar roles in comparable industries, and the cost of labor in respective cities. Actual compensation is based on the candidate’s relevant experience, education requirements and peer pay equity. The Company reserves the right to modify the range as market conditions change.
