Reports to:Visitation Services Coordinator of Hope Unlimited, Inc.

Position Summary:

The Visitation/Exchange Monitor is responsible for conducting supervised visitation session and monitored parental exchanges of the Child Visitation Center of Hope Unlimited.

The Monitor conducts supervised exchanges and visits under the policies and procedures of the Child Visitation Center program to ensure that it can be accessed by the courts, DCF, contracting agencies and participants. The Monitor may also provide auxiliary services upon the request and direction of the Executive Director and Child Visitation Center Coordinator as needed to ensure the successful operation of the Center.

Specific Duties:

  • 1. Provide a safe environment for children during exchanges with non-residential parents or during supervised visitation sessions.
  • 2. Maintain the visitation room in a clean and orderly manner after visits.
  • 3. Assist administration staff in developing, tracking and analyzing program outcomes to continually improve program services.
  • 4. Record factual information in observation notes relevant to the childs welfare at the commencement and conclusion of each session.
  • 5. Assist the Coordinator with testimony when required to do so by court order/subpoena.
  • 6. Ensure that appropriate measures are taken to protect the safety and security of the child and agency staff, property or visiting parties.
  • 7. Maintain a close working relationship with public and private agencies that provide services and support to children and their families.
  • 8. Meet with Child Visitation Center Coordinator on a regular basis to discuss the status of various cases.
  • 9. Refrain from assuming any duty that is unrelated to and or interferes with the responsibilities of the position or other programs of the agency.
  • 10. Advocate, promote and practice cultural sensitivity and responsiveness while performing duties.

Basic Requirements:

Knowledge in child development and related issues

Computer knowledge

Organizational skills and professional demeanor

Knowledge of general office procedures.

Knowledge of the dynamics of divorce and separation Basic understanding of the laws governing separation and divorce

Basic understanding of the issues of child custody and child welfare

Good observation and behavior documentation skills

Good communication and written skills

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to intervene to protect the welfare of the child

Document all exchanges and visitations

Testify when required to do so by subpoena or notice to appear

Education and Prior Work Experience:

Prefer college degree in social work, child development, human resources or related field. Prior work history and life experience will be taken into consideration in lieu thereof. High school diploma or GED required. Must complete 40 hours of training prior to conducting visits or monitoring exchanges.

Other Requirements:

All employees of Hope Unlimited, Inc. must have the ability to lift 50 pounds, possess a valid Kansas Drivers License, undergo a background investigation by the KBI and Child Abuse Central Registry as well as a drug screen.

Status:

This position is funded through the Federal State Access and Visitation Program Grant administered by the Kansas Governor and/or the Child Exchange and Visitation Program Grant administered by the Kansas Attorney General and is subject to the requirements related thereto.

This position is currently part-time, consisting of approximately 5 to 15 hours per week, and will include weekends and is non-exempt from the wage and hour law regarding overtime.

This part time position d es not qualify for health insurance through the company group plan and Hope Unlimited, Inc.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: \$14.24 - \$16.00 per hour
