WM Senior Manager, Investigations in Indianapolis, Indiana

I. Job Summary

Responsible for managing and leading in-depth workplace investigations.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

  • Serves as a secondary point of contact for business leaders and HR partners on HR investigations.

  • Oversees, manages, and develops direct reports.

  • Audits the quality and consistency of investigation summaries, reports, and recommendations.

  • Meets and monitors adherence of established investigation procedures and case management timelines.

  • Investigates and manages mid to high level complexity workplace complaints of employment practices including, but not limited to, harassment, discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliation, employee relations and code of conduct.

  • Gathers and secures relevant evidence and documentation.

  • Plans, schedules, and conducts effective interviews of complainants, subjects and witnesses.

  • Maintains the highest degree of confidentiality and sensitivity for all issues.

  • Maintains timely communication with all involved parties and key stakeholders.

  • Stays abreast of investigation best practices and employment-related investigation trends.

  • Appropriately reports and escalates the status of investigations and potential compliance risk to key stakeholders.

  • Assists with post-investigation action plans for reducing compliance risk.

  • Supports department leadership with identifying systemic patterns and trends for reporting requirements, risk assessments, metrics, and action plans.

  • Collaborates with HR, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal and Security when required to assist with investigations.

  • Manages conflicts and competing priorities within a matrixed and complex organization.

  • Assists or partners with training sessions relating to the investigative process.

  • Exercises excellent judgment and discretion to appropriately assist with legal issues, privileged and confidential information, and highly sensitive documents.

III. Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises assigned team of workplace investigators.

IV. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job. Must live and work in the US.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree (accredited) in Business Administration or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree, High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four (4) years of relevant work experience.

  • Experience: Seven (7) years of relevant work experience (in addition to education requirement).

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • None required.

  • Investigation training(s), investigation certification(s), and/or mediation training a plus.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of employment practices with subject matter expertise in one or more of the following areas: employee relations; labor relations; employment laws and regulations; employment law compliance; and workplace investigations.

  • Requires problem solving capabilities, strong analytical skills and the ability to react quickly and discreetly in sensitive situations.

  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including active listening skills.

  • Good negotiation skills. Capable of bringing others together and trying to reconcile differences.

  • Ability to positively influence the team to drive for results.

  • Good active listening skills. Listening to what other people are saying and asking questions as appropriate.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

  • Know how to find information and identify essential information.

  • Problem identification skills. Identifying the nature of problems.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Prior experience managing or using a case management system a plus.

  • Foreign language proficiency in Spanish or French a plus.

  • Proven success in effectively managing change across a large and complex workforce.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and organizational skills as well as change agent abilities.

  • Proven success at building relationships and credibility with key stakeholders and subject matter experts.

  • Strong emotional intelligence and proven ability to handle high stress situations.

  • Ability to manage time to prioritize your work and the work of others, including investigating several cases at once and managing the investigations of direct reports.

Prior experience leading a team a plus.

  • Normal setting for this job is: both office and facility setting.

  • 40% (overnight travel). This position requires significant travel and non-traditional working hours.

The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $119,200 - $181,585. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
