About the Indiana Office of Technology (IOT):
The Indiana Office of Technology provides cost-effective, secure, consistent, reliable enterprise-technology services to our partner agencies so that they can better serve our mutual customer, the Hoosier taxpayer. IOT will also act as the technology and solution enabler for the State, helping its partner agencies achieve business objectives and innovation.

Role Overview:
The Senior Database Architect designs, implements, and manages complex database systems, ensuring their performance, integrity, and security. You will collaborate closely with other IOT Departments and agency stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into efficient database solutions. You will also plan for future growth, identify new technologies for adoption by the State, and provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other team members.

A Day in the Life:
Design and implement database solutions that meet business requirements and ensure scalability, performance, and reliability.
Test, debug, and document system software upgrades and new releases.
Collaborate with IOT management to evaluate technical and business goals. Analyze and estimate business value.
Identify technical problems and needs and then propose solutions using the whole portfolio of IT assets.
Provide technical direction, support, and leadership to project teams.
Lead cross-functional teams to capture product/application requirements, align the product/application features to product roadmap/strategy, product/application implementation, and rollout.
Design and implement solutions across critical architecture domains, Business/Process, Application/Services, Data Information, Technology/Infrastructure/Operations, and Security.
Work with multiple business areas, applications, data domains, and technologies.
Work with multiple organizations, functions, and suppliers.
Ensure solutions meet business needs along with architecturally significant functional and non-functional requirements.
Anticipate, understand, and communicate the implications of technical decisions on the business, applications, and project timelines and influence decisions accordingly.
Able to define, lead, and execute technical work.
Analyze and take on complex technical problems, including advanced data analysis and multiple technologies.
Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices and recommend adoption where appropriate.
Consult with application owners to creatively brainstorm and right-size effective solutions.
Manage expectations with IT management and software vendors for project deliverables.

What You'll Need for Success:
Must possess an expert knowledge of SQL Server, including:
Database architecture, modeling, and design
Managing large physical and virtual clusters
Multi-terabyte databases in a multi-server environment
Installation and configuration
Automated deployments
Backup and recovery tools and methodologies
AlwaysOn Availability Groups in a Virtual Server environment
Database Monitoring Tools such as IDERA, Red-Gate, and AppDynamics.
Performance and diagnostic tools including Dynamic Management Views (DMVs), Extended Events, and SQL Profiler
Writing SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions, etc.
High Availability and Disaster Recovery using clustering, log Shipping, and replication
SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
Team Leadership and Collaboration
Must have experience in the following areas:
Cloud Database Platforms
ITIL and key IT processes.
Programming languages (VB.NET, C#, Python, PowerShell)
ETL processes and related tools.
BI tools such as PowerBI and AWS Quicksight.
Managing hybrid-cloud workloads.
Creating automation for daily processes.
Database charge-back.
Using monitoring tools.
