Actalent Quality Engineer in Indianapolis, Indiana
Job Title: Quality EngineerJob Description
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to support our top customers by addressing customer complaints, managing the containment process, problem-solving, and ensuring quality documentation. You will be involved in creating and understanding PPAPs, using CMM tools, and working closely with customers during on-site visits. This role requires spending about 50% of the time on the manufacturing floor and 50% in an office environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and maintain quality specifications for products, materials, equipment, and process controls
Implement methods to inspect, test, and evaluate the reliability of manufacturing and quality processes
Investigate internal and external quality issues and drive timely and effective corrective actions for nonconformities
Work closely with customers to determine quality improvement standards
Continuously determine quality improvement factors for processes
Lead the annual IATF Certification process
Submit first articles, PPAPs, and sample parts for customer approvals
Coordinate training with other functional departments for Quality standards
Perform other duties as assigned
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience in a Quality Engineering role within an automotive or similar job shop environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
Experience working directly with customers
PPAP knowledge
Knowledge of IATF (International Standard for Automotive Quality Management Systems)
Familiarity with supplier issue rejections
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field (Manufacturing Engineering preferred)
Previous experience interacting with Caterpillar
Certified Quality Engineer or Six Sigma Certification
Experience in Manufacturing, Metal Forming, Fabrication, and Welding
Experience working with CMM
Strong leadership skills to support and motivate others
Analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to handle multiple projects concurrently
Expert level data analysis in Excel
Time management skills and ability to work under tight deadlines
Experience with Minitab
Work Environment
The facility on the SW side of Indianapolis is a 250,000 square foot, clean and comfortable work environment. The temperature is well-maintained, and the equipment is spaced out to ensure a safe working space. The Quality Engineer will work both on the production floor and within an office environment alongside other engineering, purchasing, and management team members, fostering a team-oriented atmosphere. The role is onsite from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 4 pm, with the possibility of occasional overtime. The dress code requires long pants or jeans, and steel-toed or composite boots. Safety glasses, a hard hat, and a laptop will be provided. This position involves significant walking throughout the facility.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
