Description
Fabricator JOB PURPOSE:
Fabricate, weld and assemble parts to support field operations in pipeline construction.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Safely operate equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts, welding machines, grinders, hand tools, electric and pneumatic tools.
Review blueprints and drawings to plan and build items.
Locate and mark bending and cutting lines onto workpiece.
Set up and operate fabricating machines such as roll machines, shears, torches, plasma cutter, drill presses, and end mill.
Fabricate metal parts and components according to specifications.
Position, align, fit and weld parts together.
Review welds for structural integrity.
Wire electrical components.
Verify and test workpiece to ensure conformance to specifications.
Be willing to learn and perform the duties of the job.
Follow safety guidelines at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Certifications
Required: High school diploma or equivalent with emphasis on industrial shop and/or machine trades.
Preferred: Additional certificate in machine trades, welding and fabrication from a vocational/technical school.
Experience
Required: 6+ months’ related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Functional / Technical Competency Requirements
Required: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, procedure manuals and blueprint drawings. Follow oral and written instructions. Communicate effectively with internal customers and team. Apply concepts of basic shop math.
Preferred: Knowledge of and experience with mig welding of mild or stainless steel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth, perception, and ability to adjust focus.
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, machinery and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
