A Key Control Testing Specialist builds relationships with key business partners and is responsible for executing against the annual testing plan which includes planning, scoping, and conducting full scope and targeted testing of key regulatory and operational process controls in accordance with enterprise and regulatory requirements. The tester will conduct process walkthroughs in order to assess the design effectiveness of key controls, identify potential control weaknesses and root causes and impacts of deficiencies, and propose appropriate corrective action for any issues identified. They will also provide feedback for the annual testing plan and recognize opportunities for enhancing the efficiency of the overall testing process.

In this role the tester is expected to:

  • Work closely with business partners to understand the operational and regulatory risks affecting their business.

  • Conduct design effectiveness reviews to assess the efficacy of processes in mitigating risk and perform testing of key operational and regulatory controls to determine whether the control is being executed and documented as designed.

  • Prepare high quality work papers for senior and line of business management and other stakeholders.

  • Draft issue management documentation and partner with business stakeholders to ensure mitigation plans address identified risk.

The skill set needed for this role:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including superior verbal and written communications.

  • Prior testing or audit experience is a plus.

  • Familiarity with risk management principles and the internal control framework used to mitigate risk.

  • Understanding of Banking Operations and Products.

  • Critical thinking and Analytical skills.

  • Knowledge of US banking regulations (e.g., Compliance, AML, operational risk, privacy, etc.)

  • Proficiency in Excel, Power BI, process automation, or visualization tools.

  • Experience with eGRC or comparable Governance, Risk and Control software is a plus.
