Idaho National Laboratory is hiring Training Facilitation Lead to work in our Lab wide Training Facilitation department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Central Facilities Area facility onsite in Idaho Falls, Idaho with every Friday off.

The role of this position is focused on leading and overseeing contracted and vendor led health and safety and operational training as well as filling in as necessary to teach those classes. You will have primary expertise in Leading Health & Safety Training programs, with potential secondary expertise in HAZMAT, Hoisting & Rigging, Environmental safety and health, lock and tagout (LOTO), electrical safety, radiological work, aerial lift/forklift, confined space, fall protection and other general industry safety & operational training.

A high degree of experience in Health and Safety Training is needed, but you do not need to have technical knowledge in all the areas listed above. However, priority will be given to candidates with experience in several areas. As an instructor, you will teach in a physical classroom, using virtual or simulated environments, and Perform Field Instruction and practical exams.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Work as a Technical Instructor/Lead Professional.
  • Manage LS vendor-led or contracted training and ensure their performance is in line with contractual obligations.
  • Act as SME for EH&S training, with the capability of stepping in as an instructor to backfill as needed.
  • Develop and implement technical facility-specific training and qualification programs. Subject matters may include job skills training, first aid, radiological training (radiation worker, RCT/HPT), health & safety training, hoisting and rigging, respirator training, safeguards & security (firearms, tactical, use of force), and facility/protective force operations support.
  • Identify training program needs and analyze training requirements.
  • Help develop learning objectives, lesson plans, training support materials, evaluation standards, and written/oral examinations to ensure staff are qualified to perform their duties in accordance with regulations and procedures.
  • Help design training to obtain high levels of proficiency and retention.
  • Review technical procedures, reports, proposals, and other appropriate documents to determine their impact on the training programs and to make recommendations for implementation or revision based on needs or problems observed during operational or training evolutions. Implement approved recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain examination question banks. Develop, schedule, administer, grade, and evaluate written, oral, and performance examinations (which may include those related to simulators).
  • Perform and evaluate classroom, on-the-job, and simulator training. Ensure assigned training programs follow the requirements of program documents, company procedures, training implementation matrices, and training program plans.
  • Participate in support activities as assigned, including serving on assessment teams, investigation teams, benchmarking teams, and collaborating with laboratory training organizations.
  • May coordinate activities to accomplish goals with other trainers.
  • Evaluate training programs to ensure that requirements are met and that the programs are vigorous and accomplishing the goals established for delivering training that prepares employees to perform their jobs.
  • Conduct self-assessment activities required by company procedures, using results to improve the training programs. Track deficiencies and provide timely completion of actions that correct/mitigate deficiencies.
  • Document and implement required corrective measures if needed.
  • Mentor junior staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

*Minimum Requirements: *

  • Bachelor’s and 9 years of experience. Master’s and 6 years of experience. PhD and 4 years of experience.
  • Relevant experience must be in technical facility (commercial or DOE) training programs or industry.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • The pay range for this position is $93,204min - $191,076 max. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and driving a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
