Amazon Sr. Software Development Engineer, Amazon, VASTech in Hyderabad, India

Description

Value Added Services Tech (VASTech) team is responsible to make Amazon the preferred store for customers’ product purchases by building new shopping experiences that leverage large item fulfillment capabilities (Heavy-Bulky), the physical proximity of our Sellers (Local Selling) and layering in rich, human interactions at the time of product fulfillment (Services) in order to delight customers. The problems that VASTech solves for span all stages of a customer’s shopping journey from discovery, purchase, fulfillment, onboarding, last mile, customer support and compliance. We have built the Services Fulfilment Network (SeFN) to fulfil WW service orders and support multiple different fulfilment and operational models broadly classified as (a) Unified Delivery Service (UDS) by providing customers with a single delivery and service appointment for their products; and (b) Non-UDS which provides both independent and product-related services as a separate service appointment. The platform also supports multiple supplier pools including 1P (Amazon Blue badge employees), 2P (Amazon Pros, DSPs) and 3P (third party sellers). The solutions provided by our team are used by WW business teams across Amazon to support end-to-end service experience for their customers.

We are looking for SDEs with strong technical knowledge, established background in engineering large scale software systems, and passion for solving challenging problems. The role demands a high-performing and flexible candidate who can take responsibility for success of the system and drive solutions from design to coding, testing, and deployment, to achieve results in a fast paced environment. The Sr. SDE on this team will be playing a key role in solving complex problems and building innovative solutions to build and scale new fulfillment models world-wide. Candidate needs to have a high sense of ownership, ability to develop end to end solutions and improve customer experience.

Key job responsibilities

As a member of the team, in this role, you will:

• Work with Principal Engineers to drive the technical and architectural vision of the HB and Service data model and systems involved

• Design and build systems and extensible frameworks for end-to-end lifecycle management of HB and Service transaction on Amazon

• Solve complex problems in Fulfillment planning, Last Mile execution, Return prevention, Concession reduction, Post Order Care and Multi-Box fulfillment

• Build scalable platform to integrate with Amazon external partners for fulfillment and execution

• Lead the design and development of solutions for supporting and scaling varied operational model (Vendor Fulfilled, Merchant Fulfilled, Independent Contractor Fulfilled) and Supply sources (1P, 2P, 3P, DSP)

• Drive adoption of technologies and develop efficient algorithms that operate on large datasets.

• Lead and mentor engineers, and drive best practices around design, coding, testability, and security.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  • Deep technical expertise and hands-on architectural understanding of cloud-scale distributed and service-oriented architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

  • Have had impact and influence across multiple teams ·
