Team

This role will be reporting to the Director, of Security Engineering. The security engineering org targets building state-of-the-art technology that will help reduce the risk surrounding the sensitive assets of the company with the least impact possible on operations acts as guidance and facilitator to the security operations teams and helps to shift Security perception from blocker to enabler by building a relationship of trust with the other teams. The Endpoint Security Engineering team is part of a larger Security Engineering org. The team’s mission is to ensure the highest level of security for our organization, encompassing device security, access control, data protection, and compliance with regulatory standards.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and versatile engineer to lead the management, administration, and optimization of our data governance tooling, as well as a broader responsibility for securing and scaling the underlying Kubernetes infrastructure and associated technologies.

What you get to do in this role:

  • Administer Data Governance platforms and infrastructure, such as BigID and Kubernetes.

  • Collaborate with the Data Governance team to build, baseline, and optimize BigID connectors that perform data scans on critical assets.

  • Oversee K8s administration, cluster management, and configuration hardening.

  • Implement automated patching and updates for K8s infrastructure and related tools/packages.

  • Suggest security and/or performance improvements by assessing the current situation, evaluating trends, anticipating requirements, and supporting proof-of-concept experimentations.

  • Create tooling to automate and enhance the efficiency of DG processes, infrastructure management, and workflows.

  • Write scripts to programmatically connect various internal and third-party data sources via API.

  • Implement robust monitoring solutions for K8s infrastructure and implement processes and alerts to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Implement auto-scaling mechanisms to handle elastic workloads on K8s clusters.

  • Evaluate audit findings, create a path to remediation, and implement the solution.

  • Accountable for the timely delivery of projects as per established roadmaps by working closely with the business teams.

  • Integrate various tools such as Elasticsearch to create a cohesive and comprehensive security ecosystem.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between DG, infrastructure security, and overall organizational goals.

  • Maintain thorough documentation for configurations, procedures, and incident response plans.

  • Implement security posture management for cloud infrastructure of DG tooling.

  • Troubleshoot network, platform, and tool issues to determine the root cause and issue a fix

To be successful in this role you should have:

  • A strong working knowledge of Linux OS and networking concepts.

  • Practical experience administering and securing containerized workloads/applications.

  • A core understanding of best practices around security, automation, data governance, and infrastructure topics.

  • Hands-on experience with scripting, APIs, and version control systems,

  • An automation-centric attitude with a focus on providing secure, automated, and scalable solutions.

  • Familiarity with database technologies.

  • Strong interpersonal skills (written and oral communication).

  • Proven experience in being an effective team player.

  • A keen analytical mind for problem-solving, abstract thought, data governance best practices, and security tactics to make security a strong enabler at ServiceNow.

  • Ability to articulate complex issues to executives and customers.

  • A Computer Science/Engineering degree with 6+ years of proven, related experience is required.

  • Experience/Knowledge with security tools including (not limited to):

  • Desired: Data Governance solutions (BigID)

  • Containerization platforms (K8s, docker, KOTS, Replicated, etc.)

  • Linux OS (Red Hat Enterprise Linux)

  • Database technologies (MongoDB)

  • Monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog etc.)

  • Automation languages or systems (Python, shell scripting, etc.)

  • Version control systems (Git)

  • Networking fundamentals (OSI model) and security concepts (Firewalls, NAC, Zero Trust, etc.)

  • Logging and aggregation tools (Splunk)

  • Vulnerability scanning (Wiz, Tenable, etc.)
