The Microsoft Office India team is looking for a few high caliber and highly motivated Principal Software Engineering Managers to lead the planning, design, implementation and shipping of a few critical components for a strategic project for Office business.

The Microsoft Office India team is building a set of next generation experiences for Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote) on Android and iOS. In addition the team is focused on expanding the current Visio business from half a billion dollar in revenue to one billion in five years. Besides, the team is engaged in creating a new product line for the emerging markets for humans who use only mobile devices or do most of their work while being mobile. Here your work has the potential to reach billions of users worldwide and to impact Microsoft business and its stakeholders. Already Office for Android apps have more than 100+ Million downloads since its launch in last 6 months.

Now we’re looking for fearless and innovative technical leaders who are passionate about increasing Office's daily and monthly usage and retention to join us and drive us to the next level of business success by getting the apps that matter to people at work, at school and at home integrated with our platform, both on the cloud and on mobile. Our engineering team tackles a wide variety of problems, from networking to advanced graphics handling to leading edge UI design to insight mining from telemetry to creating scalable and highly available services in Azure. The team today is agile, shipping daily or monthly, eager to learn, and willing to try new ways of working.

Responsibilities

The SWE II will be expected to implement features in a way it confirms to overall architecture of the area. They are expected to design features, write automation, create test plan and come up with accurate estimates based on breaking down complex tasks. They are expected to quickly learn new areas and to adhere to quality and coding/design practices of the team. He must have the knack of debugging hard issues and could start designing increasingly complex features independently. He must be self-driven, proactive, results-oriented and have the commitment to continue to improve with feedback. Exposure to agile methodology and all phases of the development cycle, preferably on large-scale commercial products is desirable.

Qualifications

BS degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent degree

• 4+ years of software development experience with C, C++ or Java

• Ability to quickly pick up existing concepts and employ new techniques and strong problem solving

• Ability to design efficient algorithms and data structures and write tight and neat code

• Independently can handle design and implementation of features of right complexity

• Any exposure to Office technology, iOS / Android / Azure Services is desirable
