Overall Purpose of the Role

Summary of the role – main purpose for the existence of the role

Responsible for Day-to-day accounting activities of acquire programming and original production cost recognition and amortization, intercompany transactions, and month end close of HBO APAC entities.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES

General Accounting

  • Download titles from iBroadcast to Programming Subsystem, update exhibition dates and compute License Fe and update exhibition dates in sub-system

  • Preparation of journals for programming, inventories, and accruals.

  • Analyze Indies and Specials expense variance

  • Perform monthly Programming and Original Production related Balance Sheet and P&L analysis

  • Prepare Programming Audit schedules

  • Prepare monthly close entries

  • PSS subsystem

  • Balance sheet reconciliations

  • Manage intercompany transaction disputes and confirmation

  • Support internal and external audit request

  • Work in collaboration with Finance, Business, LOB, GBS on cross divisional initiatives and handles reporting requests/questions received from various stakeholders

  • Responsible for monthly foreign exchange revaluation and translation process

  • Responsible for month end close processes and deliverables

  • Perform ad hoc analysis for Sr. Manager as well as working with different departments and handle queries within the organization

  • Coordinate with other team members to reconcile identified variance, adjustments to be made

  • Assist in various global/ department initiatives, such as system migration and Account Reconciliation Harmonization

  • Ensure licensed programming cost are accurately computed, capitalized and amortized according to accounting standards.

  • Ensure Original Production cost are accrued timely and accurately.

  • Responsible for the computation of film cost amortization and prepare amortization journals for posting.

  • Responsible for intercompany cost recharge for Production entities.

  • Liaise with Finance and Business stakeholders to ensure Production and acquire content cost are accrued timely and accurately.

  • Prepare monthly P&L and Balance Sheet flux explanation.

Areas of Accountability

Where applicable : -

  • Regular interaction with various accounting groups in a matrixed organization

  • Participate and support global transformation project to move from various legacy ERP systems into one consolidated system, such as S4 migration.

  • Participate in process improvements and standardization to gain greater efficiency and effectiveness within the region.

Selection criteria

Essential:

  • Preferred fully qualified Accountant – CPA

  • Strong technical experience including experience of month end management accounting for revenue and cost

  • US GAAP reporting and SOX experience

  • Experience of multi-site and multi-currency reporting

  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in accounting

  • High level interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable:

  • Experience in Integrated finance applications/information systems e.g. SAP, Peoplesoft, Oracle

  • Experience working with outsourced financial functions

  • Service-oriented.

  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team.
