About Platform Architecture:

Platform Labs tackles hard problems, de-risking strategic technical initiatives for engineering teams across the organization by creating functional proofs of concepts and providing support to integrate them into roadmaps for successful adoption. This team of senior engineers works on projects in various areas such as performance, developer tooling, and AI. Each project follows an approach where a problem is observed and researched, a hypothetical solution is proposed, experiments are built and tested, then analysed, and iterated on. Platform Labs embraces emergent technologies while balancing the feasibility and constraints of operating at ServiceNow's scale.

Senior technical leadership defines the objectives and the problem space, but it is the engineering team takes the initiative to research and present feasible solutions to important technical challenges that arise.

*What you get to do in this role:  *

Projects commence with a research focus and deliverables, potentially progressing to collaborating with other ServiceNow engineering teams to assist in delivering production functionality. Key responsibilities include:

  • Manage a small team of Staff+ engineers

  • Demonstrate resourcefulness and self-drive.

  • Adapt to changing priorities and altering direction as dictated by research findings.

  • Maintain a strong execution focus within your team, collaborating with leadership to establish and meet project deadlines.

  • Serve as a robust cross-team development collaborator and regularly convene with US/Canada team leadership.

To be successful in this role you have:

  • 10+ years of experience working in product development with proven expertise in developing enterprise-scale products.

  • Hands-on coding and design experience.

  • Experience managing a high performing, effective and successful engineering team.

  • Ability to plan and prioritize work while ensuring technical alignment across collaborating teams.

  • Ability to execute a project based on our priorities, context, risks, and desired outcomes.

  • Enjoy fostering and promoting the team's culture within the domain/area of responsibility.

  • Proficiency in Java, JavaScript, Kubernetes, design patterns, frameworks, etc.

  • Assisting in establishing and adhering to key technical architecture and design guidelines and advocating for new technologies/tools.
