About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Compliance Officer

In this role, you will:

  • Provide oversight and monitoring of business group risk based compliance programs

  • Maintain compliance risk expertise and consulting for projects and initiatives with moderate to high risk, over multiple business lines

  • Establish, implement and maintain risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements

  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions

  • Develop, oversee, and provide independent credible challenge to standards with subject matter expertise

  • Provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change

  • Report findings and make recommendations to management and appropriate committees

  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and risk control development

  • Receive direction from leaders and exercise independent judgment while developing the knowledge to understand function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Monitor the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding compliance risk management

  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenges appropriately on compliance related decisions

  • Make decisions and resolve issues to meet business objectives

  • Interpret policies, procedures, and compliance requirements

  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals

  • Work with complex business units, rules and regulations on moderate to high risk compliance matters

  • Interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Compliance experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Law degree (LLB/LLM), Companies Secretary would be preferred

  • Advanced understanding of legal and regulatory information globally for laws and rules applicable to Wells Fargo businesses

  • Experience with Wells Fargo internal risk systems such as SHRP

  • Experience in analyzing laws and regulations and other compliance data

  • Experience developing improvement processes and implementation strategies

  • Experience consulting, influencing and partnering with business executives, leadership and peers

  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy to ensure accuracy of risk and compliance system of record

  • Solid problem solving and relationship management skills

  • Experience communicating in both written and verbal formats with senior executive-level leaders through use of advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills

Job Expectations:

  • Engage with regional compliance and legal partners to support in making updates the regulatory inventory

  • Engage with Vendor partners to communicate, discuss issues if any with the regulatory changes/inventory

  • Support management in performing vendor analysis and ensure gaps identified if any are communicated timely and tracked to closure

  • Perform quality checks on the work performed by the junior resources in the team

  • Engage with Quality Assurance, Legal and Compliance teams to discuss key process updates and clarify questions

  • Coach and train junior resources in the team

  • Monitor process KPIs, metrics and support in timely execution of the deliverables as per the agreed quality standards and procedures

  • Assist process manager in driving process efficiencies

  • Assist in keeping the process procedures up to date
