Perkins Technical Services, Inc. Soldering Technician and Assembly Worker in Huntsville, Alabama

**General Summary: This position consists of soldering wires, connectors and electronic components on PCBs, assembling parts and sub-assemblies into metal enclosures and plastic molds to produce a finished product. The employee must be willing to follow directions and produce high quality work in a timely manner. Must be able to work independently and rely on knowledge, experience and judgment to complete assignments once the proper skill-set and knowledge is attained. The employee must be able to use a variety of soldering equipment and hand tools for this position.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • 90% - Soldering, assembling parts and sub-assemblies into metal enclosures using drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, ratchets, sockets, pliers, and other hand tools
  • 5% - General/miscellaneous tasks
  • 5% - Interface with product development/management to provide product feedback and make design modifications as necessary

*Required Education and Experience: *

  • Soldering surface mount and through-hole components into PCBs (2+ years preferred) (IPC and J-Standard-001 certifications are highly desired)
  • GED or High School equivalent preferred
  • General working knowledge of MS Office Excel, Word and Outlook is required
  • Accuracy and attention to detail required

**Work Environment: This job operates in a manufacturing environment.

**Physical Demands:


  • Ascend/Descend stairs/ladders/balance (moderate)
  • Position self to bend or twist (frequent)
  • Able to lift 30lbs overhead and 50 lbs at waist height while walking
  • Stationary or squatting position (frequent)
  • Ability to see colors

**Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, requiring a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
