Senior Principal Data Scientist

Northrop Grumman Defense Sector is seeking a Senior Principal Data Scientist to join its team of qualified, and diverse professionals.This position will be located in Huntsville, AL . As a member of the Data Analysis Team, you will play a crucial role in supporting Northrop Grumman's current contracts by analyzing data for network, warning, and data collection equipment used in both deployed locations around the world and test events. Your knowledge of probability and statistics will enable you to solve problems and create analytical reports that will be presented to the customer. You will also be responsible for developing the scripts necessary to parse network data and equipment logs, verify equipment performance, work collaboratively with other teams to resolve performance issues, and generate expected data outputs for post-test and event analyses. Your contributions will be essential in ensuring that Northrop Grumman meets its contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in the planning, design, development and implementation of solutions to address ongoing business performance opportunities and performance improvement.

  • Work in a fast-paced, Agile/Scrum based environment.

  • Implement process changes to improve business outcomes.

  • Develop impactful predictive modelling, Monte Carlo simulations and advanced analytics

  • Support cross-team development efforts for multiple projects, including data cleanup, ingestion, and linkage with other data sets.

  • Develop data architectures and data management solutions.

  • Document design, deployment and operating procedures for each work product.

  • Present data in a meaningful way to executive management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science with 9 years of experience or Master's Degree and 7 years of experience or PhD with 4 years of experience

  • High interest in problem solving and analyses using data

  • Experience with programming and development language syntax

  • Basic knowledge of probability and statistics

  • Experience creating and presenting analysis results

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance Secret

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing scripts in Python

  • Experience working with SQL and databases

  • Experience with Cisco network performance analysis

  • Experience with Power BI and Tableau

Salary Range: $139,700 - $209,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
