Job Title: Automation Technician

Job Description

The role of the Melt Shop Automation Technician includes safely installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and automation equipment in the Melt Shop and associated process lines. Candidates must be able to work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including call-ins. Safety is the most important part of all jobs; therefore, candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Safely install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and automation equipment in the Melt Shop and associated process lines.

  • Work scheduled and unscheduled overtime, including call-ins.

  • Demonstrate and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

  • Work as part of a coordinated effort with others to achieve common goals.

  • Communicate effectively to ensure information is understood by others.

  • Identify problems, analyze related information, and develop and implement solutions.

  • Be proactive in seeking out work that needs to be done and take on responsibilities and challenges.

  • Introduce new ideas for the continuous improvement of the work area.

  • Develop specific goals and plans for prioritizing, organizing, and accomplishing individual and team work.

  • Pay attention to detail to ensure tasks are thoroughly and accurately completed.

Essential Skills

  • Knowledge of computers, electrical/electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software.

  • Proficiency in networking, Microsoft Office, and programming.

  • Basic electrical theory, including troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance of electronic equipment.

  • PLC programming, particularly with Siemens PLCs, including the ability to make edits and troubleshoot.

  • Experience with network troubleshooting, server configuration, and wiring.

  • Advanced automation development experience.

  • Knowledge of Melt Shop processes.

  • Experience with Siemens S7 controllers/programming packages and network communications.

  • Wonderware/Aveva software experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Navy Nuclear experience is highly preferred, as 90% of the team are former Navy Nukes.

Work Environment

The work environment is heavy industrial, hot, and dirty, and is not climate controlled. The schedule is a day shift from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm, with the potential to be on-call once/month. The facility has over 300 contractors on site.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Huger, South Carolina.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
