Siemens Energy Welder (Piping Technician) in Houston, Texas

A Snapshot of Your Day:

Working on orders, preparing materials, and accurately operating various tools and machinery. Responsibilities include assembly and maintenance of rotating equipment, performing quality checks, and collaborating with different departments to ensure efficiency and problem-solving. How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • You will perform work following all safety procedures and policies, maintaining and obeying all EHS standards.

  • You will inspect, repair, replace, install, and maintain all mechanical components and assemblies on gas turbines and compressor-associated packages.

  • Reading and interpreting complex assembly instructions, specs, and blueprints will be important to your role.

  • Performing fitting of structural components for the assembly of SGT 100-400 and A-35/A-65 Siemens-Energy Gas Turbine and compressor packaging.

  • Part adjustments using various machining techniques will also be part of your daily tasks.

  • You will weld, tack, and certify mechanical welding as required, maintaining certifications for welding skills.

  • Qualification of pipe WPSs and welding personnel shall conform to ASME B31.3 Process Piping Code (GTAW P8 6G – must pass test).

  • Performing measurements and adjustments as necessary for correct tolerances and recording measurements for review will ensure quality control.

  • You will notify management/engineering of issues and deviations from print and regularly carry out and document simple maintenance and cleaning work.

  • Carrying out and practicing all company work instructions and quality control system programs will be critical.

  • You will work and communicate with Engineering, QC, Material Control, and other crafts in production, assisting with alignments and parts installation.

  • Travel 15%

What You Bring:

  • You have a High School Diploma or GED and 5+ years of relevant experience in Assembly of Rotating Equipment Manufacturing.

  • Your experience in a shop environment includes welding and cutting tools and processes.

  • You have specific expert knowledge of Siemens Energy Turbomachinery rotating equipment assembly, particularly the RF and Datum range of turbo-compressors.

  • You are skilled in inspecting, repairing, replacing, installing, and maintaining all mechanical components and assemblies on gas turbines and compressor-associated packages.

  • You can read and interpret complex assembly instructions, specs, and blueprints, and you can operate cutting rigs, welding machinery, and measuring tools.

  • You are proficient in using micrometers and indicators to measure tolerances to +/-0.001”.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
