WM Sr. Analyst, Gas Volume Scheduler-Renewable Energy in Houston, Texas

I. Job Summary

The Gas Volume Analyst's primary responsibilities will be nominations, confirmations, scheduling activities and managing imbalances for WMRE's Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) or biogas processing facilities. The role will also be responsible for validation of third-party measurement in comparison to WMRE's field measurement of actual volumetric flow. The Gas Volume Analyst will have functional responsibility for reconciliation of third-party purchases and sales of gas and will support the Accounting team during accrual, close, and other activities as needed.

II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily and monthly nominations, confirmations, and scheduling for gas.

  • Monitor measurement data showing physical flow from receipt points to delivery points on distribution and intra/interstate pipelines and compare to in house measurement.

  • Manage imbalances by checking shipper throughput and pipeline imbalance position.

  • Negotiate and manage Operational Balancing Agreements.

  • Generate monthly shipper volume statements and invoice statements for comparison against third-party custody statements.

  • Work closely with accounting and assist in monthly accrual and close processes.

  • Liaison between RNG compliance for coordination on storage for RFS certification process.

  • Track contract expirations and assist with re-contracting strategy based on commercial direction.

  • Engage with stakeholders on contract updates.

  • Create reports that highlight the contract portfolio.

  • Verification of in-house gas chromatograph and measurement data for RIN generation.

  • Assist with verification of 3rd party marketing evaluations.

  • Completion of special assignments/tasks as required by WMRE senior management.

III. Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the qualifications necessary to perform the job.

A. Education and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (accredited) in Business, Finance, Accounting, Marketing or Engineering or High School Diploma or GED (accredited) and four years of relevant experience required.

  • Experience: 5 years of of gas scheduling experience (in addition to education experience) required.

B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements

  • None required.

C. Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills with ability to build new relationships.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and better-than-average skill with Excel is required.

  • Midstream energy knowledge (nominations, confirmations, invoicing, contracts, pipeline balancing, and settlements) is preferred.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Office: This job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, etc.
