We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Shop Electrical Technician to join our team and ensure our office operations run smoothly. This is an entry-level technician position that will assist in the assembly, repair, maintenance, and rebuild of electrical panels & components.
Requirements
Essential Functions:
Wire basic electrical panels in a complete assembly build with supervision.
Mount components and panel wiring, including labeling per schematic with supervision.
Drilling, tapping, and cutting holes in metal enclosures.
Operates various hand and power tools including drills, screwdrivers, wrenches, soldering guns, crimpers etc.
Independently point to point test circuits according to schematics with supervision.
Perform QA/QC checks prior to “Green-Tag” and properly record test results.
Assist in facility projects including:
Moving items
Packing boxes
Cleaning
Trash removal
Assist other shop team members with:
Equipment installation
Service
Cleaning
Installation, and verification, of required S3S decals prior to equipment shipping.
Responsible for requesting tools, supplies, and fixtures needed for their work duties.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
Other duties as assigned by the EM, PD, or VT.
May be required to work in other locations from time to time.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic knowledge of AC and DC voltages.
Basic use of Digital Multi-Meter (DMM).
Basic understanding of electrical controls.
Ability to utilize measuring devices: tape measure, caliper, thread gauge, etc.
Must be mechanically inclined / adept, and familiar with hand tools.
Ability to identify the thread size and specification of an unknown fastener.
Understanding of proper fastener installation, and torquing.
Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
Able to communicate effectively with others.
Must be able to read and write in English fluently (Spanish is a plus).
Must have manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Able to understand and carry out routine oral and written instructions.
