WSP USA Senior Electrical Engineer (MEP/Buildings) in Houston, Texas

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Senior Electrical Engineer for our Property & Buildings group in Dallas, Houston, and Austin Texas.

Job Description

As Sr. Consultant, Electrical Engineer you will be responsible for electrical design aspects of projects.

Design Responsibilities include:

  • Develop drawing and specification documents

  • Design of electrical distribution system including one-lines and riser diagrams

  • Design of lighting systems including lighting controls system design and specification

  • Design of electrical device placement including OFE equipment and mechanical/plumbing equipment

  • Design of fire alarm systems

  • Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure proper design considerations have been made

Analytics:

  • Select major equipment and schedule

  • Perform electrical load calculations, including emergency generator systems

  • Produce high quality technical and professional deliverables for projects and proposals

  • Utilize advanced analytical and design techniques to solve technical problems

  • Perform tasks related to construction administration

  • Prepare reports

Collaboration:

  • Provide guidance and training to entry level engineers

  • Coordinate and manage tasks within larger projects

  • Propose creative solutions to complex problems as part of team

  • Communicate system design decisions to senior quality assurance staff to ensure proper application and adherence to project scope.

  • Develop client requests and attend client meetings

  • Contribute and interact with team, develop and manage high quality technical and professional deliverables on projects and proposals.

  • Participate in local professional organization (attend meetings/lectures), ie, poster sessions, participate in conference panel

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or equivalent

  • At least 5+ years minimum experience in Electrical Buildings System Design

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Attention to detail, highly organized, self-starter

  • Working knowledge of Revit

  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • PE, LEED AP Certification

  • Previous Healthcare or Laboratory design experience

  • Knowledge of AGI or other Lighting calculation programs

  • Knowledge of SKM Power*Tools

  • Knowledge of Building and Energy codes
