Chevron is accepting online applications for the position of Security Threat Analyst, North America and Activism, through April 30th, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). The position is located in Houston TX.

The Geopolitical Risk Analysis team informs global security and company decisions by providing strategic analysis of geopolitical and security-related risks, grounded in regional expertise and an understanding of Chevron’s businesses. We enhance the security of personnel and assets by providing concise assessments and briefings that inform future business decisions and support base business and existing operations.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively providing timely, strategic analysis of geopolitical and security risks in North America that could affect Company personnel, operations, assets and business interests.

  • Developing a detailed understanding of activist groups, their strategies, and the risks they pose the company.

  • Using in-depth analysis of open-source intelligence to identify and assess potential threats and risks to the company and relevant stakeholders.

  • Collaborating closely with the Global Security Information Centre and the Protective Intelligence team to help provide timely and actionable intelligence and analysis that supports decision-making and enhances overall security planning for Global Security leadership and other GS teams.

  • Developing tailored analytic product lines designed to support internal clients and help inform business decisions.

  • Closely monitoring and assessing evolving regional threats and potential crises, which may require working outside of normal business hours.

  • Traveling to relevant company locations across North America to assess the evolving risk landscape, understand key business challenges and maintain collaborative relationships.

  • Enhance and contribute to the team’s range of tools, including ‘points of view’ briefings and scenario planning exercises, to help global security and the business understand the geopolitical threat environment.

  • Liaising frequently with regional and industry subject matter experts, both internal and external.

  • Regular engagement with Global Security’s Americas Regional Manager and the Executive Protection Manager, and contribute to the mitigation of risks to people, events, and assets.

  • Staying flexible and being willing to function as a generalist, monitoring issues and providing analytic assessments of other security-related risks, when needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum 7 years of experience as a professional analyst with the U.S. government, or as a private sector security or political risk analyst.

  • Extensive subject matter expertise pertaining to activism and regional security issues.

  • Proficient at using multiple social media platforms to monitor global events

  • Excellent communication skills, oral and written.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interface effectively with peers as well as with senior management.

  • Ability to build successful relationships across organizations and cultures.

  • Ability to work independently but also collaborate effectively with other team members to support business needs.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and easily to changing priorities, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple tasks at once.

  • A valid passport and willingness to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (such as international relations, regional studies, history, economics, political science).

  • Significant understanding of, or previous experience in, the energy industry.

  • Ability to obtain U.S. government security clearance.
