We are looking for a Regional Category Buyer - Nested Maintenance Services to join our Procurement team in Houston, TX.

Global Indirect Procurement (GPI) is respon­sible for purchasing technical goods and services for BASF. We under­stand the business needs, are close to our stake­holders, drive cost savings, inno­va­tion and sustainable practices by nego­tia­ting with suppliers and managing vendor relationships. We are seeking a professional like you to join our Houston, TX, team and support the indirect procurement regional category of Nested Maintenance Services by sourcing services for all BASF business units throughout the United States and Canada.

As a Regional Category Buyer you will manage source to pay activities (RFX), supporting the shared service center as needed, upholding BASF procurement policies and good fiscal principals, understanding category markets and working collaboratively with other procurement professionals and suppliers. This is an excellent opportunity for you to demonstrate your business acumen, strong problem-solving skills, and your ability to lead cross functional and cross business unit teams. We will also look for you to exercise your ability to make and implement decisions with limited information.

As a Regional Category Buyer - Nested Maintenance Services, you create chemistry by...

  • Supporting the development of supply strategies for the North American region by working closely with the business unit and the Procurement network to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.

  • Demonstrating your skills in contract negotiations as you lead and manage the sourcing process (RFI, RFQ, RFP, etc.) for key strategic contracts and conduct highly complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF. Your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will be essential as you work with a wide range of suppliers and multiple levels within the supplier’s organization to meet the needs of BASF.

  • Providing relationship management for key suppliers, which will include monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, and other contributing factors affecting supply availability and pricing of products procured.

  • Conducting market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information and rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.

  • Being team-oriented and capable of working in a multi-task environment will be a valued asset as you support the purchase order creation and processing as appropriate.

If you...

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.

  • Possess 5+ years of professional experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, and/or Sales and Marketing.

  • Demonstrate proficiency in market knowledge, strategy development, and implementation.

  • Are team-oriented, are capable of working in a multi-task environment, and have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
