TEKsystems Network Engineer in Houston, Texas
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the administration, implementation, and architecture of technology solutions for Summit’s internal and external customers. The Network Engineer will partner directly with cross functional teams and stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes that adhere to internal and external policies and frameworks. The Network Engineer will primarily work with Cisco and Fortinet products and services in a multi-cloud environment. Essential Job Functions: Ensure stable operation of the Summit network to allow internal and external customers to successfully perform business functions. Manages network equipment including Cisco Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Fortinet Firewalls and SD-WAN, along with Extreme Aerohive appliances in a multi-cloud environment. Manages on-premises datacenter connectivity using Cisco Nexus switches and Nutanix HCI. Provides management and support for existing Cisco Collaboration platform including Cisco Call Manager, Unity and Webex. Reviews existing network state along with future growth plans, and makes recommendations to improve performance, reliability, and security. Work directly with vendors and service providers to install and maintain data and voice circuits. Implementation and management of high-profile projects, often concurrently, using new and existing project management and reporting tools. Collaborate with other functional teams including, Network Engineers, Help Desk Analysts, Developers, and other Business Analysts to ensure application availability. Perform regular audits and reviews of security posture and risks in accordance with new and existing policies. Provide tier 3 support including occasional after hours support and engineering in support of active projects. Creation and maintenance of documentation, including runbooks, diagrams, and knowledgebase articles. Mentoring and information sharing with other members of the IT Team to support collaboration and career Qualifications To be successful in this role you must have: B.S in Computer Science or related field, or 4+ years of relevant professional experience. Demonstrated experience in datacenter and branch office network management. Experience managing next-generation firewalls and remote access tools such as Cisco AnyConnect. Intermediate knowledge of Cisco Collaboration products. Experience managing projects related to the buildout of new network locations including network and structured cabling design. Experience with network and application performance monitoring tools such as SolarWinds. Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft network services such as Active Directory, DNS and DHCP. Strong understanding of the configuration and troubleshooting of network protocols such as BGP, OSPF, and IPSEC VPN in a multi-vendor environment. Understanding of network connectivity in a virtualized environment. Must possess strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills with a willingness to learn new technologies and skills. Beneficial Skills and Experience to be successful: Either CCNA or related industry certifications Understanding of ITIL processes and procedures. Experience in cloud networking, preferably in Azure environments. Experience managing cloud-based calling solutions for call centers and complex call flows.
