Job Title: Material Handler
Job Description
Seeking a material handler to operate a large forklift . The role involves moving material from rail cars in the yard into the shop. Although the yard does not have an active railcar line, it includes an old trailer from an existing line. Responsibilities include loading/unloading material off trucks and moving material around the facility. The material is very heavy, and the forklift is large. Materials include large shell plates, pipes, I-beams, flat bars, and other heavy materials. The role also involves shipping/receiving tasks and documentation, and stenciling material once unloaded.
Responsibilities
Operate a large forklift to move heavy materials.
Load and unload material off trucks.
Move material around the facility, including large shell plates, pipes, I-beams, and flat bars.
Perform shipping and receiving tasks and documentation.
Stencil material once unloaded.
Essential Skills
5+ years of experience as a material handler.
Experience handling large, long, and heavy materials.
Experience operating a large forklift (big forklift/Hyster).
OH crane experience.

Work Environment
The work environment includes working outside in the yard and in the shop, with conditions being hot during hot weather and cold during cold weather. The day shift is from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with working Saturdays as needed. The role requires comfort with rotating to a second shift once it opens, working 6 months on the first shift and 2-4 months on the second shift, then rotating back to the first shift for 6+ months.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, Texas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr.
