Lead Process Engineer - Refining & Petrochemicals

KBR is looking for a Lead Process Engineer to help support large capital projects.

Under general supervision, performs all conventional aspects of process engineering. The candidate should be able to work as part of a team or show leadership capabilities managing areas or systems within projects. Must have experience and be proficient in developing heat and material balances using process simulation software such as Aspen HYSYS and process flow diagrams (PFDs). Experience required with piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) development as well as experience generating fluid hydraulic calculations for line sizing and formulation of process data for in-line instruments and loads for rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, and turbines. Skills are acquired through an undergraduate degree in Engineering and a minimum of 8 years related experience, with average experience ranging from 10-30 years. Candidates should have experience or exposure to the following:

Functional job responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Leading a team of process engineers to work with process licensors and to advance a licensor basic engineering package to FEED quality

  • Experience executing a licensor package for refinery naphtha, distillate and residue hydrotreating technologies

  • Experience executing a licensor package for downstream steam cracker derivatives units such as polyethylene, polypropylene and aromatics units

  • Working and coordinating with high value engineering centers

  • Familiarity with and able to lead a team of process engineers for

  • Process simulation

  • PFD and P&ID development

  • Hydraulics calculations

  • Process vessel sizing

  • Overpressure analysis and relief calculations including flare load estimation and flare header sizing

  • Production of process design basis documents and various narratives

  • Managing workgroup schedules, budgets and progress

  • Targeted experience range: 10-30 years
