Purpose:

The Geographic and Graphic Designer will perform elements of GIS, database and drafting activities. Individual will gather, analyze and integrate data from various sources to input and create technically accurate illustrations, cross sections, and maps, etc. for client and internal pitches and presentations. Individual will work in conjunction with the technical and finance staff.

What You’ll Do

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

  • Access and integrate data from various sources (Enverus, Wood Mackenzie, Welligence, client provided, etc.) in order to display on maps and visual references.

  • Integrate and create accurately geo-referenced shapefiles from scans, existing bit maps, flat files or existing drawings from a variety of internal and external sources and import into ArcGIS

  • Generate maps for pitch books and presentations using digital data supplied through GIS database

  • Create symbol, bubble, contour, heat and 3D elevation and production maps from various data points and import into graphic design software (Corel Draw)

  • Integrate and join spatial data and attributes from spreadsheets, databases or direct input

  • Build annotation through coding for feature classes from defined attributes and effectively position on a map

  • Import the final dataset from any of the above operations into ArcGIS and effectively prepare for drafting in Corel Draw

  • Generate maps for pitch books and presentations using digital data supplied through GIS database

  • Import, break apart, and layer vector drawings in Corel Draw for manipulation and Scotia standardization

  • Create montages layouts from presentation graphics for wall display in data rooms

  • Re-create raster logo images and vectorize them through Corel Draw

  • Produce various graphics such as asset maps, cross sections, stratigraphic columns, production facility and pipeline diagrams etc.

  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

  • Responsible for accuracy of spatial analysis and creation of technical drawings

What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant oil and gas GIS and graphic design/drafting experience

  • Minimum college diploma in relevant field is a strong asset

  • Excellent computer skills, and ability to learn new software

  • Strong Understanding of spatial, geological, structural, lease, production and other oil and gas related data

  • Knowledge of any aspects regarding oil and gas, geology and petroleum engineering is a plus

  • Printing, scanning and large format plotting experience
