Description
Our client in the education industry is looking for an Entry Level Accountant for a contract to hire opportunity. The ideal candidate should be an adaptable team player with a drive to succeed.
Duties:
1.Manages the accounting sector for a significant business area, which includes maintaining records, submitting and reconciling data feeds, reviewing accounts and correcting inaccuracies.
Ensures all transactions are conducted in line with accepted accounting principles and in compliance with federal, state, and university guidelines.
Corrects FRS records through preparation of journal entries; carries out monthly reconciliations; handles cash receipts for Electronic Funds Transfer; reviews transfers to state or federal bodies; and possibly manages reserve calculations for potential bad debt.
Helps the business administrators of colleges or departments with queries related to accounting activity.
Carries out contract compliance checks to guarantee that all agreements adhere to set conditions and terms.
Regularly prepares financial reports for state and/or federal agencies and might also compile Profit and Loss Statements.
Offers advice to managers on accounting-related matters and may manage office activities when the manager is not present.
Might scrutinize departmental accounting policies for adherence to guidelines; assess department's cash handling process; review cash incident reports; follow up on discrepancies in cash deposit and make suggestions where necessary.
Carries out other tasks as assigned, related to the role.
