Phillips 66 Data Team Analyst in Houston, Texas

The Data Team Analyst supports the Market Analysts, Strategists, and Traders by developing and maintaining data solutions. In addition, this position will support ad-hoc requests from Senior Management, various Commercial groups, the Chief Economist’s Office, and Investor Relations. The analyst will primarily develop solutions that allow analysts and strategists to leverage and enhance existing data; while developing a strong understanding of commodity pricing, seasonality, and supply and demand drivers related to energy markets.
Responsibilities May Include:
Providing market analytical support for Commercial by developing and implementing tools and analyses to improve the efficiency and consistency of information communicated across the global Commercial organization.
Designing, developing, and maintaining data capture tools that allow Market Analysts and Strategists to enhance existing data.
Developing and maintaining data pipelines and visualizations using Databricks, Data Factory, and Power BI.
Leading ad-hoc projects and analysis to support Market Analysts, Strategists, and Traders.
Assisting Strategists in developing predictive models for markets, using fundamental and technical data, as appropriate.
Leading information-gathering processes and development of presentation packages as needed.
Working to improve existing tools and processes used by the Commercial organization.
Required Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
Bachelor’s degree
5 years of experience with SQL and Python
Experience with Microsoft IIS, Power BI, Databricks, Data Factory, Azure DevOps, and Git
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to adapt to quickly evolving requirements
Ability to synthesize data into useful information and articulate it to others in an easy-to-understand format
High degree of collaborative skills. Ability to develop, lead, and actively participate in cross-functional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Engineering, or Business
1 or more years in the finance or energy industry
Experience in Web application development (Flask or Django preferred)
Experience in Machine Learning
Experience in at least one of the following:
Commercial trading businesses
Commodity Markets
Refining/Petrochemical Process understanding
Willingness and ability to support internal customers in business requirements
High degree of initiative - works proactively to anticipate needs
Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
