DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Houston Health Department (HHD) is dedicated to advancing Houston’s environmental and public health goals. HHD works collaboratively with city, state and community partners to conduct education, community engagement, and enforcement to promote healthy people and a sustainable environment.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides professional customer service to both internal and external clients and provider agencies.
Manages a Multi-Service Center for the Houston Health Department
Submits and monitors work orders, janitorial requests, and security requests
Provides work guidance to janitorial and security staff
Manages office space, classroom space, and meeting space allocations.
Works on assigned projects for HHD
Submits monthly reports
Handles facility rental requests and rental payments
WORKING CONDITIONS
The position is physically comfortable, the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration or a related field.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Two (2) years of experience in community organizational work, resource and referral services, or a closely related field are required.
SUBSTITUTION: Professional experience related to the type of work to be performed may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
None.
PREFERENCES
Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.
- Comprehensive experience in managing an office building/facility.

GENERAL FUNDED POSITION
Grant positions are dependent upon continued available funds. If funding is no longer available, employee may be laid off or transferred.
Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
