Siemens Energy Automation Engineer in Houston, Texas
A Snapshot of Your Day
In this role, you will work on automation solutions projects related to process control systems and power management systems, with a strong focus on energy transition. Your day involves a range of tasks centered around the basic and detailed design engineering of systems, specifically PCS7 and SIMATIC S7 hardware design, in line with customer, legal, and standard requirements. You will create drawings, cable lists, cabinet designs, and functional logic designs, including measurements, fail-safe, open loop, and closed loop controls. Additionally, you will prepare documentation for subcontractors, specify field instrumentation and control equipment, and develop installation, test, and commissioning protocols. You will also provide progress reports to the Project Manager and prepare comprehensive project final documentation, including detailed, installation, as-built documentation, quality reports, service and maintenance activity reports, and operating manuals. Furthermore, you will assist with and perform on-site commissioning, start-up, and guarantee runs, while also collecting and creating notes for claim management, non-conformance reports, and project learnings.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Manage automation technical scope, including project documentation, control system configuration, testing, commissioning, start-up, and assisted operation.
Provide essential support to the Project Engineer, facilitating seamless interaction with internal teams and external clients.
Conduct system integration, testing, and commissioning, including Factory Acceptance Tests and interface with network and cybersecurity teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure delivery of Engineering Work packages within project timeline, budget, and high quality.
Supervise and carry out all commissioning and service work, ensuring productivity and efficiency.
Implement customer training and ensure compliance with safety standards and industry regulations.
What You Bring
Master or Bachelor in electrical engineering, automation, or related field with 5+ years of industry experience. Industry knowledge in Marine, Oil & Gas, Fiber – or Process Related Industries and Applications is preferred. Thosewith more experience may be considered for a more senior level.
Professional experience in PLC + SCADA and DCS solutions, including PCS7 and SIMATIC S7 automation systems.
Experience with industrial networks, Windows Servers, industrial communication protocols, and virtualization.
Familiarity with industrial IT and cybersecurity practices, network design, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with project management experience.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
