Your role and responsibilities
As a Linux@IBM engineer, you will be responsible for enterprise enablement and deployment of Fedora as a productive and secure Linux workstation platform and manage security and configuration policies using endpoint management tools. IBMers are our everyday customers and we focus on improving their Linux desktop experience every day.
As a Linux@IBM engineer:
You will maintain the BigFix platform, update BigFix server and client software, and monitor performance and reliability.
You will design and script BigFix queries and actions to support IBM security requirements, compliance checking, patching, and hardware/software asset tracking for existing and new releases of Linux, Linux components, or applications.
You will monitor patch and security compliance status for Linux@IBM population.
You will design and code new solutions to support new releases of Linux, Linux components, or applications.
You will package tools and applications using Red Hat Package Management system (RPM)
Fluent English.
Required technical and professional expertise
'- Experience with RHEL or Fedora Linux
Experience in scripting languages (bash, python, gtk, Java, JS, C)
Experience with source control versioning and maintenance using GIT on GitHub
Solid troubleshooting, reasoning, and problem solving skills
Advanced workstation/laptop hardware knowledge
Experienced with Linux networking configuration (wired, wireless, virtual)
Strong RPM packaging skills: spec files, scripts, triggers, macros, patching, rebuilds
Experience managing Linux endpoints using BigFix, Tanium, Fleet, or similar MDM.
Preferred technical and professional experience
Strong experience in Linux.
