Jennie Stuart Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Nurse Assistant / Mental Health Tech to join our team at the JSH Medical Center. This full-time, regular/at-will position is integral to our commitment to providing exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will assist licensed personnel in various patient care activities, ensuring the comfort and well-being of patients within our facility. Key responsibilities include maintaining personal hygiene for patients, aiding with activities of daily living, performing intake and output measurements, checking vital signs, collecting specimens, and providing post-mortem care when necessary. The role also involves ensuring a safe and clean environment, effectively communicating with team members, and participating in the orientation of new employees. The ideal candidate will demonstrate dependability, punctuality, and the ability to work well within a team. Additionally, the candidate may be required to perform specialized tasks with appropriate training and written approval, and must be willing to accept reassignment to meet the care needs of all patients. This role is pivotal in instilling confidence in our patients by maintaining a professional demeanor and delivering care competently and compassionately.

Required Skills

  • High School Graduate or GED equivalent.

  • Successful completion of Nurse Aide course or equivalent.

  • Active registration on the Kentucky Nurse Aide Registry (CNA).

  • Current BLS Certification—American Heart Association (Healthcare Provider) or American Red Cross (Healthcare Provider).

  • Ability to provide personal hygiene care for patients.

  • Capability to assist with activities of daily living.

  • Proficiency in performing intake and output measurements.

  • Competence in checking vital signs and collecting specimens.

  • Knowledge of safe and clean patient environment practices.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.

  • Dependability and punctuality.

  • Willingness to undergo specialized training for certain tasks.

  • Flexibility to accept reassignment as needed.

Required Experience

  • Experience as a Mental Health Tech.

  • Experience in providing care and support to patients with mental health needs.

  • Familiarity with the protocols and procedures of patient care within a mental health setting.

  • Proven track record of working effectively as part of a healthcare team.

  • History of maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations.

  • Prior experience in a hospital or medical center environment is preferred.
