Responsibilities POSITION SUMMARY: The Food Safety Quality Compliance Manager is responsible for supporting domestic USDA FSIS/FDA food safety compliance within MFI. Provides support for plant operations regarding regulatory matters within MFI. The position will interact with other internal departments including customer service, quality assurance, R&D and operations. Primarily support regulatory compliance with the FDA and USDA FSIS. The position will report to the Director of Regulatory Affairs and Customer Compliance. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Research new regulatory requirements and provide updates to key stakeholders. Support the manufacturing facilities via engagement with the local and regional USDA, FDA and other regulatory agencies. Maintain a working knowledge of regulatory requirements at food manufacturing locations. Develop and manage critical key performance indicators to ensure the success of domestic compliance. Educate and effectively communicate with applicable departments to maintain regulatory compliance. Provide day to day assistance on compliance with USDA/FDA regulations. Stay abreast of, and ensure compliance with, all operations and regulatory programs, additions, or changes to the regulations. Initiate periodic regulatory audits, assessments and/or reviews of corporate control systems. Develop procedures for measuring regulatory compliance both internally, and with vendors. Maintain all company and facility food safety related regulatory registrations (FDA and USDA Grant of Inspections). Compliance support in the development and maintenance, including auditing, of the farms animal welfare program. Monitor various regulatory web sites for any applicable detail that may impact the business (e.g. – FSIS and FSMA). Travel 30% required. Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Bachelor's Degree preferred. May substitute bachelor’s degree with at least eight (8) years of related regulatory experience. A minimum of two years’ experience in USDA/FDA domestic regulatory compliance. Preferably, working as a Food Safety Quality Manager. Operational regulatory experience is highly preferred. Must have proficiency with computer skills (such as Microsoft Office suite); experience developing and maintaining user databases for technical information and standardized forms is highly preferred. Must always demonstrate adherence to ethical standards. Knowledgeable of, and capable of maintaining strict adherence to, the requirements of all relevant laws, regulations, and Company policies, including, among other areas, Food and Drug Administration regulations. SAP ERP system experience a plus Strong critical thinking, problem solving, written and verbal communications skills. #firstinpeople
