The Mechanical Engineer will design and engineer custom equipment, as well as lead an engineering team. Initially managing two direct reports, the Mechanical Engineer will ultimately oversee five team members. Responsibilities include Design Engineering, Research and Development, and Quoting, while working cross-functionally with Electrical and Controls Engineers. The role involves starting from base models and customizing designs to meet customer needs, performing FEA and structural analysis, and updating old prints with complex modifications.
Responsibilities
Manage all workflow coming into and out of the Engineering department
Act as a resource and subject matter expert for Quality, Operations, and Sales
Provide direction and oversight to solve complex electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical problems
Manage the time, activities, and quality of work within engineering
Lead new product development and R&D efforts
Bring new ideas and process improvements to the company and execute them sustainably
Plan resources and staff for projects
Create structures, systems, and processes to ensure work consistency and quality
Communicate with customers
Lead all aspects of applications and quoting, including data and budget management, solution effectiveness, quoting tool improvement, and accuracy
Champion a positive culture and hold others to the same standard
Essential Skills
Machine or equipment design experience
Proficient in Solidworks
Proficient in FEA
Experience with compressors and compactors
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience designing compressors, compactors, or dumpers
PE license
Work Environment
The Mechanical Engineer will report to the COO and work with a team of six other engineers. This is a lead engineering role, initially managing two engineers, with the potential to lead the entire engineering team. The company specializes in waste handling equipment and compaction systems, offering a variety of projects and challenges. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.46 - $48.08/hr.
