Regular, Part-Time to Full-Time (50-100% FTE), Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawai?i Economic Research Organization (UHERO), located in Maui, Hawai?i. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.

MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $2,750 - $3,350/Mon. (@50% FTE) to $5,500 - $6,700/Mon (@100% FTE)

DUTIES:

The Maui Wildfire Exposure Study is a critical research initiative aimed at understanding the health and social impacts of the August 2023 wildfires on Maui residents. Assists with leading and coordinating the study. Ensures milestones are met, while building strong relationships with community members and stakeholders. Acts as the main contact, addresses concerns, provides information, and supports recruitment events. Collaborates with the research team to create culturally sensitive materials. Disseminates study information to the community, and coordinates with local organizations to enhance support networks and address community needs. Establishes and maintains relationships with diverse community partners. Facilitates meetings to address local needs. Develops culturally sensitive communication strategies. Coordinates with organizations to enhance resilience, and engages participants to ensure their voices are heard in the research. Assists community members in accessing resources. Advocates for their needs to the research team and stakeholders. Provides community feedback to enhance research and recovery efforts.

PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Public Health, Epidemiology, Environmental Health, or related fields.

EXPERIENCE Up to one (0-1) year of experience in community outreach, engagement, or advocacy roles. Experience working with diverse communities and conducting community-based initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE Strong knowledge of Mauis community and its cultural context.

ABILITIES and SKILLS Ability to build trust and rapport with community members from diverse backgrounds. Strong organizational and coordination skills. Proficiency in using communication tools and platforms, including social media. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to pass a post offer criminal background check. Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
