Aston Carter Payroll Accountant in Honolulu, Hawaii

Description:

This role will assist in the project to implement internal capabilities for Davis Bacon prevailing wage determination. They will be specifically handling payroll processing related to a new government project that requires Davis Bacon prevailing wage. This includes, weekly payroll processing, reporting, transferring report into certified payroll reporting, verifying and auditing.

85%(+) of the role will be:

  • Processing payroll in adherence to the Davis Bacon wage determination act for Government contract work

  • Conducting weekly payroll reporting (including verifying/auditing for accuracies) and submitting a certified payroll report

  • Review computed wages and corrects errors to ensure accuracy of earnings

  • Strong knowledge of Davis Bacon prevailing wage and combination of the basic hourly rate and any fringe benefits rate listed as a specific classification of the workers

Other responsibilities could include (as needed):

  • Prepare and process garnishments

  • Prepare various payroll and management reports, journal entries, workers compensation and reconcile quarterly payroll taxes

  • Processing of manual checks such as terminations and discrepancies

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of consistent payroll experience, preferably within operations that work directly in government contracts

  • Certified payroll professional is preferred

  • Experience processing payroll within SAP is a bonus but not required

  • Bachelors degree in finance, accounting, or related business preferred
