HR SAFETY COORDINATOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reporting To: HR Operations ManagerVersion: Aug 2024

Location: HawaiiScope: Hawaii

PURPOSE

Responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions through managing the Health & Safety Management System. Ensures the system configuration is functioning efficiently and that all employees have access to report safety incidents, near misses and observations. Reviews all events reported in the Health & Safety Management System to identify lead indicators. Submits workers compensation and liability claims to insurance carriers. Ensures corrective actions are assigned and completed to prevent future safety incidents from recurring.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Individual

  • Manages Donesafe system configuration to ensure it is functioning efficiently and all employees have access to report safety incidents, near misses and observations.

  • Provide education/assistance on how to access and report events in Donesafe.

  • Reviews all events reported and ensures all essential information is documented to submit any workers compensation or liability claims to insurance carriers.

  • Reviews and secures recordings from surveillance cameras for reported safety events.

  • Provides reports on lead indicators identifying risks/hazards in the workplace.

  • Promotes safety through communication to all employees.

  • Assists in the maintenance of the risk register.

  • Will deploy organizational development and people experience initiatives.

  • Take reasonable care for your own health and safety at work, and that your actions/omissions do not cause harm to any other person in the workplace (including, for example, co-workers and customers)

  • Participate in creating and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, particularly by complying with instructions, policies and procedures.

  • Advise manager of any/all work related injuries, accidents, near misses and hazards or potential hazards (including any faults to equipment), and risks or potential risks to health and safety.

Professional Job Profile

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources or Business.

    Business/Technical Skills

  • Experience working in a Safety or HR team

  • An understanding of federal, state and city safety regulations and protocols, including OSHA

  • Proficient user of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to undertake and complete projects with minimal supervision
