The Strategic Account Manager is responsible for meeting and exceeding sales goals within assigned territory of Canada, Midwest US & California for our Strategic Library and Consortia customers in Wiley's Research Division. Primarily responsible for selling and managing Transformational Open Access agreements; the Strategic Account Manager works in a pod/team structure that includes an Account Manager, Customer Success Manager, Marketing Manager and Sales Coordinator.

How you will make an impact:

  • Build Account Strategies: Demonstrates an entrepreneurial mindset to identify and execute account strategies; Identifies cross-sell or upsell opportunities to grow account revenue.
  • Grow & Expand Account Relationships: Identifies key account stakeholders and implements strategies to grow and expand those relationships.
  • Complete In-Depth Customer Research: Leverages various sources to research customers and their needs; Seeks out market insights and trends; Uses research to tailor outreach and plan for customer meetings.
  • Manage Projects to Completion: Works with cross-functional colleagues (operations, marketing, finance) and demonstrates a high attentional to detail, to complete projects and/or develop complex solutions.
  • Manage Opportunity Pipeline: Follows Wiley sales processes and opportunity management approach; Captures efforts in common and consistent way in CRM Systems.
  • Execute Data-Driven Negotiation: Analyzes data; Facilitates data-driven conversations to drive stakeholder consensus and deliver successful agreement outcomes.
  • Influence Through Value-Selling Behaviors: Influences customers with a value-driven approach throughout the sales process; In written and verbal communications and in presentations.
  • Exhibit Leadership Qualities: Exhibits strong leadership with sales and marketing colleagues

We are looking for people who have:

  • 4-year undergraduate degree
  • 5+ years of experience in the publishing industry
  • High fluency around Open Access trends, in region and globally
  • Experience selling and managing complex customer solutions
  • Experience managing people or working in a highly collaborative team environment
  • Ability to travel -30%

The range below represents Wiley's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base pay for this role at the time of posting roles either in the UK, Canada or USA. It is anticipated that most qualified candidates will fall within the range, however the ultimate salary offered for this role may be higher or lower and will be set based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.
