Chart Industries Procurement Engineer in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

Main purpose of job

  • To Procure all project related sub-contracted, manufactured items (Mechanical & fabricated) within project budget, timeframes and to Howden Quality Standards within the nominated value stream.

  • Responsible for execution of procurement activities for Supply Team Value Stream Directly dealing with suppliers, Placement of orders, expediting of orders with suppliers, negotiating with suppliers, receipting of documentation.

  • Responsible for identifying saving ideas through alternative sourcing or value engineering

Accountabilities

  • Prepare and Manage Request for Quotes Packages in order to find suitable suppliers that meet project budget, timeframe and Howden Quality Standards.

  • Analyse all suppliers in order to select the most suitable suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing.

  • Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality.

  • Review and manage the supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy.

  • Perform regular performance review with suppliers to drive continuous improvements.

  • Ensure commercial, legal and contractual compliances in all the procurement transactions.

  • Adopt appropriate supplier management methodologies and procurement strategies in purchasing to secure better prices

  • Ensure all PO’s are issued and received in the HAU ERP system as per procedure.

  • Prepare Purchase orders and monitor the selected supplier to achieve project goals

  • Organise Inspections as required for the Purchase orders placed, and deal with any non-conformances.

  • Collect Quality and Inspection Documentation for the purchase orders placed and forward to QA for compilation

  • Follow all Howden Procedures and relevant standards including ISO9001, OCHSA18000 and ISO14000.

  • Manage transportation from Supplier to end destination including packing lists and related documentation as per agreed HAU Shipping process

  • Be proactive team member as part of the daily management process

  • Legal, Health and Safety - Take all reasonable care for own personal health and safety, as well as for that of everyone who may be affected by your action in your workplace. Essential skills, knowledge & behaviours

  • 5+ years previous experience as a procurement engineer

  • Previous experience in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Industry

  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills

  • Good stakeholder management skills  Good organisational skills

  • Excellent negotiation skills  Good team player  A degree in Mechanical Engineering

  • Ability to read engineering drawings  Computer literate (Word and Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to analyse bills of material and drawing to understand key requirements

  • Demonstrated knowledge of procurement and contract procedures and systems

  • Knowledge and direct demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with contract manufacturers and suppliers

  • Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities

  • Accuracy and attention to detail

Desirable skills, knowledge & behaviors

  • Mechanical Engineering Degree

  • 5+ years previous experience as a project engineer or Quality control engineer that involved a procurement function

  • Previous experience in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Industry for Air & Gas handling Equipment knowledge of ISO and OHS standards Complexity and creativity

  • Budget and Timeline restrictions are set by others and sometimes difficult to achieve

  • Obtaining commitments from third parties, and enforcing them

  • Juggling many projects concurrently

  • Dealing with Non-conformances

  • Finding solutions in order to meet project budgets and timelines.

  • Continuous improvement with regards supplier performance and cost reduction Judgement and decisions

  • Assessing Tenders and Selecting Suppliers to place orders with

  • Assessing new suppliers for addition to Howden Approved Vendors lists

  • Evaluating risk and implementing actions to mitigate / control the risk

Travel

  • Travelling - ad hoc supplier visits. Estimate 50% of time visiting Suppliers.
