Special Assets Sr Analyst

 

The role of the Special Assets Sr Analyst is the direct management of and assistance with the analysis and management of commercial loan, commercial real estate and cooperative loan relationships that have encountered difficulties and attempt to ensure that the Bank's/Investor's assets are preserved, and losses minimized.

Heavy emphasis on financial analysis for such assets including: • Spreading and analysis of financial statements • Analyzing Borrower tax returns • Comparison of financial statements with projections • Analyzing Borrower and Guarantor cash flow • Creation and analysis of various financial analysis templates

Direct management of and assistance with: • Collection of data for monthly and quarterly reporting • Watchlist Reporting and Investor Reporting • Creation of Asset Summary Reports • Creation of loan submissions for approval (modifications, forbearance, lease reviews, management changes, etc) • Compliance review related to bank policies, procedures, and loan servicing agreements including investor loans • Assist with all aspects of compliance with various covenants and loan level compliance items

Special Asset Sr Analyst may be assigned a small number of credits that have a lower risk profile to directly manage. Primarily, the job function will be more in a supportive role assisting Asset Managers with assigned credits and supporting the Managing Director of Special Assets with special projects.

  1. Support Asset Managers with customer relationships through the analysis and tracking of financial performance, covenants, payment history and various reporting requirements. Monitor collateral through analysis of appraisals, borrowing base certificates and legal proceedings. Management of and assistance with delinquent, classified and non-performing accounts that are performing below established benchmarks. Heavy emphasis on financial analysis and familiarity with Excel. 30 %
  2. Support Asset Managers with assigned customer relationships/credits with the development of workout and action plans through assessment of Borrower's operations, management ability, and effectiveness of any third-party vendors used by Borrowers. Review legal position, financial performance, and collateral sufficiency for sub-performing accounts. Heavy emphasis on business writing and familiarity with Word. 30%

  3. Review, analysis, and tracking of requirements related to investor-owned portfolios. Assist with and prepare internal reports, external reports, and other reporting as assigned. 10%

  4. Review and analyze asset valuations, property condition reports and environmental reports. Pursue collection of charged off accounts and personal guarantees. 10%

  5. Assist Managing Director with special projects, reporting, and other duties as assigned. 20%

Minimum Qualifications Include:

Undergraduate degree with some concentration in finance, accounting, or commercial real estate or equivalent work experience, with 5 years of relevant work experience.

Technical skills relative to review and analyzing the following:

• Spreading and analysis of financial statements • Analyzing Borrower tax returns • Comparison of financial statements with projections • Analyzing Borrower and Guarantor cash flow • Creation and analysis of various financial analysis templates • Business writing experience • Ability to follow directions • Ability to problem solve and work independently after direction • Collaborative and team oriented

Understanding of finance and accounting particularly as it relates to income statements, balance sheets and cash flows. Strong Excel skills and a strong aptitude for learning new software.
