Under the direction of the Engineering and Maintenance Manager, this position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks critical to supporting the safe operation of the maintenance and engineering department in accordance with company guidelines and customer requirements. Performance of these tasks are critical to the Safety, Quality, Reliability and Cost of the plant production lines, paint mix area, environmental area, shipping area and general plant facilities. This position will receive frequent direction and supervision from the Maintenance Supervisor and Engineering and Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities include the following: Proactively providing engineering and technical assistance to the manufacturing plants in term of equipment, maintenance, and production processes and systems. Actively participating, as a contributing member on engineering project teams, in identifying and resolving common cause and special cause issues that impact plant reliability and performance. Investigating manufacturing problems in the plants and recommending corrective actions. This includes consulting with production personnel, analysing the supporting data, recommending corrective actions, and following through on recommendations to evaluate their effectiveness. Developing preliminary concepts and budgetary capital estimates for new products, projects, and improvements. Assisting in and / or developing vendor bid packages and final vendor selection for purchased parts and services. Executing capital projects, ensuring cost, schedule, and performance goals are met or exceeded. This may vary from owning portions of a large project to sole ownership of a project. Applying Precision Maintenance concepts and principals. Educating plant personnel on engineering and technical issues to ensure their knowledge and understanding. Coordinating training and start up activities of new equipment and processes. Participating in Lean efforts, such as kaizen events, where an emphasis is placed on creativity before capital investment. Providing status updates on project progress and issues. Owns and trains plant qualified electrical safety programs. Owns plant maintenance electrical development program. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Three (3) or more years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Demonstrated Project Management skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written and presentation). PLC and HMI programming experience with Rockwell suite of products.
